Sierra Wireless 875

In this case, my equipments are: Dell Latitude D820, Windows XP Pro SP2, TEMS Investigation 8.0.4, Sierra AirCard 875 HSDPA modem. Yours might be little different, but mostly the steps are similar.

Preparation: Installing your AirCard 875 on your Windows.
You should not plug your modem before the drivers and softwares installed on your computer. Install modem driver and 3G Watcher first, and then plug your modem.

Then, try your modem. Is it can works properly? If you had no problem with modem and dialling, it means okay. Proceed to the next step.

Sierra 3G Watcher

Configure you AirCard 875 on TEMS Investigation.
If your modem is not active, run “3G Watcher” application first. Check the power and “2G” or “3D” led indicators on your modem.

Prepare the “port number” for Sierra Wireless AirCard 875. Please check on the Device Manager (Control Panel – System – [tab] Hardware – Device Manager). See on  “Ports (COM & LPT)”. Look for this: Sierra Wireless DM Port (UMTS) and Sierra Wireless AT Command Port (UMTS).

Device Manager

Plug your license USB dongle, so you can connect the user equipments with TEMS Investigation. Then run TEMS Investigation Data Collection application.

From Equipment Configuration window (Configuration – Equipment Configuration), click “Add” button (or just strike Shift+A).

Add Equipment

On first line, select the COM port for Sierra Wireless DM Port (UMTS), in my computer it uses COM 26, then choose Sierra Wireless 850/865/875. On the second line, select the com port for Sierra Wireless AT Command Port (UMTS), in my computer it uses COM 25, then choose Qualcomm 3G Data Cable. And click “OK” button.

If your inputs are right, your modem’s IMEI and your SIM’s IMSI will be listed. Change the “Equipment Number” if you want. Then, click the “connect” button for the MS and DC.

If you had no problem and trouble with the equipments and configurations, the modem will be connected successfully with TEMS Investigation Data Collection. Make sure with “WCDMA Serving/Active Set + Neighbors” window (Presentation – WCDMA – Serving/Active Set + Neighbors) for 3G/UMTS/WCDMA. Or “GSM Serving + Neighbors” window (Presentation – GSM – Serving + Neighbors) for 2G/GSM.

Happy drive test.
