The management of pop singer Rihanna has canceled the Friday concert in Jakarta due to security reasons, the event promoter’s spokesperson Troy Waroka announced Thursday.

“The concert will be postponed until January or February,” Troy said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Troy explained that Rihanna’s management considered Indonesia’s safety still on an alert. He suspected that the sudden decision from the management had something to do with the death penalty execution of three convicted terrorists on Sunday.

“According to them, Indonesia’s security is not supportive,” he said while added that a team had been sent to Singapore to lobby the management to change its decision.

A laborious and costly preparation had been carried out to hold the Friday concert, Troy said, including a renting jet plan to pick up Rihanna from Singapore and assembling a security unit with quality in par with state officials.

A cancellation of the concert would mean billions of rupiah worth of losses, he added.

“All tickets are already sold out,” he said and added that the promoter would give a total refund to all customers.
